This is one of a number of Lesser Goldfinches that were raiding some wild sunflowers in the Colorado mountains. They were fearless, but moved so quickly it was difficult to get a good picture.
This ornate box turtle was sitting on a farm road in the middle of nowhere, eastern Colorado. I moved him to the side of the road after pictures but I’d be surprised if there was another car coming through all day.
I’m looking forward to all the unique photo opportunities that winter brings over the next months, but I am also already looking forward to the amazing variety of colors that every spring brings, like this pulmonaria, with flowers that vary from bright pink to almost blue.
